Service Agreement vs. One-Time Service – Which Is Right for You?
- Residential Service Agreement Ideal for long-term protection. Includes scheduled semi-annual maintenance, priority emergency response, remote monitoring options, and detailed service records. Best for peace of mind and maximum generator lifespan.
- One-Time Residential Generator Service Perfect if your generator hasn’t been serviced recently, you bought it from another provider, or you want a professional inspection without a contract. Includes the same thorough checks as our agreement visits.
What’s Included in Our Residential Generator Service
Engine Maintenance
- Drain and replace engine lubrication oil
- Replace engine lubrication filters
- Perform valve adjustment (if necessary)
Alternator & Power Circuit Breaker Inspection
- Remove covers and tighten connections
- Inspect conductor insulation for corrosion, overheating, or deterioration
System Testing & Operational Checks
- Review event history and clear fault codes
- Run generator to normal operating temperature
- Test battery charger and inspect battery condition
- Clean and tighten battery terminals, cables, and starter connections
- Verify exercise clock and time settings
- Perform Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) function test with load
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Inspection
- Check power terminals and connections for corrosion
- Inspect enclosure, door seals, and mounting hardware
- Clean slip rings if necessary
Important Service Notice:
A $135 site assessment fee applies if the service cannot be completed due to faulty installation, improper setup, or defective parts. This fee is credited toward your service invoice once repairs are completed.
What Generator Maintenance Costs
We keep it simple: two options.
One-time service — $299. A single comprehensive service visit. Oil and filter change, battery test, transfer switch inspection, coolant and fuel system checks, and a full operational test under load. A good fit if your generator is overdue or you want a second opinion on a unit another company installed.
Semi-annual service agreement — $495 per year. Two scheduled visits covering everything in the one-time service, on a schedule matched to your generator's run hours and the demands of a Carolina climate. The agreement includes remote monitoring on applicable systems, so we often know about a fault before you do — and before an outage tests it. Agreement customers also receive priority scheduling for repairs.
Two visits purchased separately would run $598. The agreement is $495, and the monitoring is the part that matters most: a generator that failed quietly in March is no help in September.
